Grading Policy

  • 40% Ensemble Participation 
  • 40% Musical Performance
  • 20% In-class assessments,projects and assignments

What does it mean?

40% Ensemble Participation
Each student will receive a weekly participation grade based on the following:
  • Preparedness with instrument, music, folder, pencil and any other class materials 
  • Maintaining an atmosphere of respect and cooperation
  • Being actively engaged in the activities of class

40% Musical Performance 
  • Playing tests
  • Small group lesson assignments
  • Sight-reading and music reading skills
  • Practice Charts

20% In-class assessments,projects and assignments
Over the course of the year various individual and group projects and/or assignments will occur in class. Grading expectations for each will be given at the time it is assigned. Students are expected to complete projects and participate actively during project work in class. 

Final Exam = Final Project
Students will complete an End-of-Year Reflection and a group project that will count for their final exam grade.
