Course Description

Sixth grade band is a developmental class for the young instrumental music student. Students meet in a large group every other day and have small group lessons during class once per cycle. The band performs two concerts during the year. Concert dates are included in the school calendar.

Goals and objectives for this course are based on the National and New York State Standards for Music, and include the development of performance skills and instrumental technique. Students will also create music through composing and improvising, build perception skills through listening, evaluate and critique music, and learn to problem-solve through self-assessment and reflection.

Extra Help Sessions

Extra help is available in the band room on Tuesday or Wednesday after school, as well as by appointment.
